A run club for beginners should feel safe, predictable, and free of ego. You do not need to be fast to belong.

What beginners should look for

  • Explicit walk-run or easy-pace options
  • Leaders who wait or plan no-drop routes
  • Clear distance (for example 3–5 km) instead of “as long as you want” chaos
  • A social finish (coffee, stretch circle)

Your first four weeks

Aim for consistency, not speed. Show up weekly, chat with one new person each time, and skip comparing yourself to the front pack.

Common beginner fears

“I am too slow.” Most clubs have a back-of-pack group. “I will hold people back.” Good clubs plan for that. “I need better shoes first.” Start with what you have and upgrade after a few weeks.
